Barrel-Aged Martinez

By Jonathan Laurel March 27, 2018 Cocktails

raspberry, plum, cherry, caramel, candy gumdrops
old tom gin, cocchi di torino, maraschino, bogart bitters

A long-lost classic cocktail, the Martinez is a subtle blend of gin, sweet vermouth, maraschino, and bitters. Known as the “missing link” of vermouth cocktails, the Martinez bridges the gap between the whiskey-based Manhattan and the gin-based Martini. We make ours with Old Tom gin, rather than London dry gin, to circumvent the usual juniper flavors. Our recipe then spends six weeks in oak barrels, providing soft, velvety notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla.
