Jigger, Beaker, Flask #2
World-renowned food and beverage writer Charles H. Baker, Jr., published his most famous work, The Gentleman’s Companion, in two volumes in 1939. The second half of that series offers some of the best exotic drink recipes every published, as well as some of the most purple, flowery prose you might be lucky enough to find. The “Jigger, Beaker, Flask,” flight will always be a staple of our menus as a rotating selection of three favorites from this book—favorites that we’ll always be able to make, even if they can’t be found in the pages of a particular menu.
For Volume #2, we’ve featured (from left to right) the Sahara Burning Heart Cocktail, with London dry gin, absinthe, apricot brandy, grenadine, and orange bitters; the East India Cocktail, with cognac, pineapple gomme, curaçao, maraschino, and bogart bitters; the Cuba Libré, with vanilla-infused spiced rum, demerara rum, cola syrup, lime, and bogart bitters.
