Orchid hunting is a dangerous sport which gripped Victorian England in the nineteenth century as explorers searched for new and rare species in the darkest reaches of the earth. An average hunter risked disease, death, and capture in order to discover unknown specimens—even risking outrageous plot twists, car chases, and random deaths, as any Kaufman fan doth know. Our Orchid Scout is based on the Spanish “calimocho” and blends a crimson Lodi wine with cola, tonic, and an orange-flavored aperitif. The result is a delicate, sophisticated cocktail worthy of any hunter’s “orchidelirium.”
